Diamond Brings Information, Excitement to Retailer Summit

Retailers visiting Chicago from April 4-6 received plenty of news on Diamond's latest updates and services to help sell products during the 2018 Retailer Summit!

Diamond Comic Distributors

Free Comic Book Day: Participating retailers were thanked for their support of the May 5 event, which has more than 2300 stores ordering 5.4 million comics. The big day boasts more than 60,000 Twitter followers and more than 890,000 Facebook fans to ensure wide awareness. Plenty of FCBD promotional items are still available for order, while various tools are available for download from Diamond’s Retailer Services Website. Retailers were also reminded that the FCBD Like It, Love It Sale is currently underway through April 16.

Quality Control: Following the investment of $10 million in Diamond’s Distribution Centers, direct ship reorder shortages have fallen to an all-time low, and even more accuracy can be expected with the addition of advanced picking technology for weekly shipments.

PREVIEWS Changes: Retailers were reminded of the changes coming to the catalog in April, including the addition of BOOM! Studios and Dynamite Entertainment to Premier Vendors, the folding of Books & Magazines into the Comics section, the new Manga section and the new flip-cover Merchandise section.

DC Previews: DC Entertainment’s standalone catalog will be free to retailers in May in quantities matching their PREVIEWS orders, with a PDF of each issue available for download.

Online Tools: Diamond continues to expand the range of assets available from the Vendor Tools pages of Premier and Non-Premier vendors, broken down by vendor for easier use, and has also updated & reorganized the website’s Diamond Tools page.

Consumer Outreach: Diamond maintains a number of ways to keep awareness of comics and comic shops high among consumers, including  including the weekly What’s @ Comic Shops videos, available for ownload every Monday, contests such as the San Diego Comic-Con Prize Pack Contest (which will award one winner and a friend roundtrip airfare, five-night hotel stay, and four-day passes to Comic-Con International in San Diego) and Comic Shop Spotlights on the Comic Shop Locator Service website.
New ComicShopLocator.com: The CSLS website will receive an extensive makeover with an all-new design that will also be mobile-friendly and focus on explaining to consumers, “Why shop at a comic shop?”

Enhanced Online Initial Ordering Tools: Item Filters have been added to the website’s online initial order editor, giving it the same functionality now found on ComicSuite.

Diamond 44-pocket Comic Spinner Rack (JAN188004): Retailers were reminded that orders were still being accepted for this innovative new fixture.

Retailer Awards: Attendees were invited to enter the Dave Hawksworth Memorial Award, which will award $5,000 to the retailer who proposes the best plan for using the money for improving their store; and to submit nominations for the Summer round of the Retail Best Practices Awards, which will open in May.

Holiday Shipping Schedule: Retailers were informed that this year, all retailers would receive their shipments by Tuesday, July 3, in advance of the U.S. Independence Day/Canada Day holidays.

ACH Online Payments: More than 200 retailers to date have signed up for this new service, which allows customers to pay their invoices directly from their bank accounts.

Diamond Daily’s Retail Beat: This regular feature spotlights customers and their stores through reports from Diamond’s Outside Sales Managers and tips from the retailers themselves — which they’re always encouraged to submit.
